SINOPEC Shanghai Engineering Company Limited (SSEC)，once named Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industry Design Institute and Sinopec Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industry Design Institute，was founded in 1953. It is one of the earliest large comprehensive engineering companies specializing in petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Chemical engineering design and EPC lump sum project in China.
　

SSEC’s area of business includes three major categories: firstly, petrochemical, chemical fiber and oil refinery projects; secondly, pharmaceutical, bioenergy and biochemical projects; thirdly, environmental protection, electronic, light textile & food, natural gas storage and transportation projects. SSEC holds an integrated Class A qualification certificate for engineering design issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China, capable of performing engineering design and EPC lump sum project for such industries as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, commodity goods and grain, light textile, architecture, metallurgy, telecom and municipal works. The company also holds several other Class A qualification certificates respectively for environmental impact assessment, engineering consultancy, engineering cost estimate, design license for pressure vessel and pressure pipe, as well as Class B qualification certificate granted to the construction enterprise. SSEC is an ISO9001 certified company and in conformity with the requirements of ISO14001、OHSAS28001 HSE management system. The company possesses several patented technologies, equipped with advanced 10 Gigabit Ethernet office network. Its main technical publications include the Chemical Equipment and Pipes and the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering.
